Our incredibly interesting blog

Hyperlocal Journalism

Alan Meban and Keith Anderson ran a panel discussion at last month’s BarCamp Belfast on the subject of hyperlocal news and blogging. They asked: What would it look like if the model was implemented in Belfast?

Unfortunately, we missed the discussion as we were making last minute amendments to our slides for our own talk; scheduled for later that afternoon.

Nicky Getgood (that’s her on the left!) is a hyperlocal blogger at digbeth.org. If you’ve a few minutes to spare, We highly recommend listening to what she has to say about this emerging type of journalism. It’s a really interesting concept!

Eager to know more? Further information on how to go about setting up a hyperlocal blog can be found at talkaboutlocal.org.uk.

Introducing Optic.

Hello there. Welcome to our brand—spanking—new website. We’re Optic, a Belfast-based design collective. Individually, we’re known as Brian Burns, Danny Turley and Jonny Campbell.

During the day we lock ourselves in the University of Ulster and study MA Multidisciplinary Design. Our areas of expertise include content strategy, UX design, social media and application development for pretty much everything with an Apple logo.

This site is intended to provide us with a platform to exhibit some of the cool personal and MA projects that we’re working on. Our Case Studies section will provide you with a run down of some of our current and upcoming projects. Our Home Page will give you an insight into the process we employ.

You should definitely follow us on the Twitter and keep up with us here on our blog. You’ll find a link to our RSS feed at the bottom of the page. We’ll try to keep you up to date with what we’re up to. We’ll not disappoint. Honest.

That’s about it for now; we’ve an important appointment with Arthur Guinness to get to. Until next time!
